In Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s latest fundraising email, she touches on the two things she’s done well in her four years in office: legalizing drugs and codifying abortion up to the moment of birth.
FAR-RIGHT RONCHETTI?
“Gov. Lujan Grisham is running against a GOP candidate whose views are seriously backward,” the campaign writes. “Mark Ronchetti is a far-right conservative* who is spreading lies about Gov. Lujan Grisham’s support for reproductive choice, and he wants to take us back decades – but we won’t let him.”
FACT CHECK: FALSE
Ronchett’s stance on abortion is anything but “far-right.” (His primary opponents criticized him for not being Conservative enough on the issue.) He has vowed to work with the Democrat-led Legislature to seek a “middle ground” to end late-term and partial-birth abortions but leave exceptions for cases involving rape, incest, and when the mother’s life is in danger. These are positions the vast majority of Americans support.
THE EXPERIENCE CARD
“Gov. Lujan Grisham has enacted countless policies to better our state – from legalizing cannabis to taking bold action to protect access to abortion,” the email continues.
“While she’s been a public servant her whole life and has deep roots in New Mexico, Ronchetti is a career weatherman with zero political leadership experience.”
Being a career politician is a good thing. Having an actual career is not. That’s according to the politician who comes from a long line of politicians and who’s never had a job outside of government.

There is a case to be made for public service–but not without a record, and in the four years under MLG’s leadership, the state is no better off than when she took office.
Crime is up. Education is down. Cops are unappreciated. Teachers are ineffective. And her COVID policies destroyed business while having no effect on our death counts.
Some politicians do good with their power. MLG simply hasn’t delivered.
DUSTY PLAYBOOK
There’s plenty of time to diversify her battle plan, but the continued reliance on “far-right” and “inexperienced” means the attacks either poll test well or Grisham literally has no other ammo against Ronchetti.
Fear mongering and lies is to be expected, but boasting, “Thanks to me you can get high and abort your baby at 9 months” seems more like a primary pitch to Leftist die-hards than a general election strategy. In a midterm election year that favors Republicans, MLG’s “shout-your-abortion” style of rhetoric is clearly aimed at boosting turnout of the liberal base, which traditionally doesn’t show up in the same numbers as in presidential election years.
Grisham’s camp is just hoping their voters aren’t too high to cast a ballot.

I would take a career anything else over a career politician. She has wrecked NM with lockdowns and other business killing edicts. Everything she has touched in the state is made worse.
