‘Some’ Lives Matter: Grisham Sends More Police to ABQ After 4 Muslims Killed

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham issued a heartfelt statement in support of the four Muslims killed in Albuquerque over the last several months, pledging to send more police to New Mexico’s largest city and bring justice to the victims’ families.

Many are wondering: Why now?

Competing with Chicago and Minneapolis in per capita homicide, Albuquerque is on pace to set its third murder record in four years, eclipsing 2021’s record of 117 by 50%.

Sadly, the governor’s response to Albuquerque becoming one of the most dangerous cities in America only materialized when the victims were Muslim.

“I am angered and saddened that this is happening in New Mexico, a place that prides itself on diversity of culture and thought. This is not who we are. We will not stop in our pursuit of justice for the victims and their families and are bringing every resource to bear to apprehend the killer or killers — and we WILL find them.”

There’s a simple explanation for why these four matter but the previous hundred didn’t. It’s not that Albuquerque has a particularly large Muslim voting bloc that the failing governor just now realized is pivotal to her dwindling odds of re-election. It’s that pandering to minorities pays political dividends with do-gooder liberals and virtue signaling Democrats.

Never mind that the majority of murder victims to date are Hispanic. In a majority-minority state, a dead Hispanic doesn’t warrant special treatment by the governor. Muslims rank higher on the intersectionality scale and thus warrant not only a press release but action.

As for the 102 other murder victims this year: sorry. You’re a statistic the governor can ignore–and has, not only this year, which is on track to beat 2021’s record-high murder rate by 60, but also 2019, which held the previous record for homicides at 80.

This is a reminder why liberals were so incensed by the “all lives matter” response to the corrupt “Black Lives Matter” movement. All lives don’t matter, particularly those that can’t be exploited for political purposes.

We support any increase in policing, but to do so only after the victims meet a particular racial and religious metric is disgusting.

Murder is wicked; it is sin. And it is equally wicked whether the victim is murdered on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, covetousness, envy, anger, or greed.
