Lamenting Leftism

Left Rewrites ‘War on Children’ Radio Ad, Then Calls It a Violent ‘QAnon Conspiracy’

In a sudden show of concern over the “dark money” influence in New Mexico media, anonymous authors at The Paper. in Albuquerque are accusing a rightwing non-profit of stoking violence over an “imaginary” war to stop castrating kids.

A group calling itself Citizens For Sanity is running a radio ad on KKOB.

The ad “War on Children” calls for listeners to “stop the woke war on our children,” which they claim is forcing young children to be sterilized against their will and “removing healthy genitals and breasts” and somehow “hiding it from parents.” The claims are built on false QAnon beliefs, exercised under a “save the children” agenda, that Democrats seek to maintain power to protect a secret child sex trafficking ring. Allegations that transgender transitioning support from licensed medical doctors equates to forced sterilization has been repeatedly disproven, but anti-trans rhetoric has led to real-life consequences, including increased rates of suicide by teens.

–“KKOB Airing QAnon Conspiracy Ads Some Say Are Call For Violence,” The Paper., Sept. 1, 2022

The liberal media don’t care about dark money’s influence on politics and policy in New Mexico unless it’s a “rightwing” message, in which case it’s a call to arms, according to “some.” Unsurprisingly, the ad itself fails to live up to the rhetoric of the anonymous authors who neatly synopsized it to fit their narrative.

Below we compare The Paper’s claims against what the ad actually says, with citations as needed.

Claim 1: Forced Sterilization?

Claim: “The ad ‘War on Children’ calls for listeners to ‘stop the woke war on our children,’ which they claim is forcing young children to be sterilized against their will…”

Ruling: False. The ad claims, “Schools are forcing elementary school children to share bathrooms and locker rooms” and that “Puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones–drugs never approved for this use–(are) leaving young children sterile, infertile, and sexually undeveloped for life.”

The combination of “forced” (use of shared bathrooms) and “sterilization” may have been an oversight.

It’s not only schools but courts ruling in favor of shared bathrooms, from elementary schools all the way through college, but this isn’t in dispute. The issue seems to be that the rightwing doesn’t like it.

“But we were basically told that we could not ostracize Lia by not having her in the locker room and that there’s nothing we can do about it, that we basically have to roll over and accept it, or we cannot use our own locker room.”

–Female teammate of (Wil)Lia(m) Thomas, the biologically male Penn State swimmer who identifies as female, swims on the female swim team, and changes in the female swim team’s locker room.

Claim 2: Hiding It From Parents?

Claim: The woke war is “…removing healthy genitals and breasts’ and somehow ‘hiding it from parents.'”

Ruling: False. Parents, with support from “health organizations,” are cutting off healthy genitals and breasts.” The Paper. doesn’t dispute this (since it’s true). They’re just selectively quoting to create a false narrative that shames people who oppose the sexualization of children.

The ad never said the Left is “hiding” the practice of “removing healthy genitals and breasts” (the actual quote is “healthy breasts, wombs, and genitals”). The “hiding it from parents” part of the ad is in reference to questioning their gender.

“They are encouraging students to question whether they are really boys or girls, all while hiding it from parents.”

The videos of teachers “educating” young children about “non-binary” sexuality at inappropriate ages are everywhere, which is why The Paper. didn’t bother attempting to refute it. Their hangup seems to be on the “hiding it from parents” claim.

Are they?

Yes.

Claim 3: QAnon Conspiracy?

Claim: “The claims are built on false QAnon beliefs, exercised under a ‘save the children’ agenda, that Democrats seek to maintain power to protect a secret child sex trafficking ring.”

Ruling: Says Who? None of the issues discussed in the ad are conspiracy theories–or if they are, they’re pretty bad at the “theory” part. And nothing in the ad makes reference to child sex trafficking. Perhaps The Paper. is attempting to add credibility to a so-far incredible “news” article by tacking on “QAnon” and hoping nobody notices.

Claim 4: Forced Sterilization, Again

Claim: “Allegations that transgender transitioning support from licensed medical doctors equates to forced sterilization has been repeatedly disproven…”

Ruling: See Ruling #1 above. The ad is not talking about forced sterilization.

Claim 5: Anti-Trans Rhetoric Leads to Suicide

Claim: “…but anti-trans rhetoric has led to real-life consequences, including increased rates of suicide by teens.”

Ruling: Mixed. Again, the ad isn’t about discrimination or “anti-trans rhetoric,” but we’ll give ’em this one, because The Paper. finally got a fact right. Transgendered youth are at least twice as likely to commit or attempt suicide than their straight counterparts.

The question that makes this a data point of scientific relevance is whether or not post-transitioned youth have lower suicide rates than pre-op. Time will tell. No taking bets.

The practice of accusing Conservatives (or, as Biden calls us, “MAGA Republicans”) of hating everything that isn’t straight and White may be politically rewarding, but it’s not true. Most parents don’t think it’s fair for their girls to have to compete against boys in sports. They don’t want their girls having to undress in front of men. And they don’t think it’s right that you allow a child to decide their gender at the age of 8, because 8 is not an age where sexuality is even relevant–developmentally or academically.

None of this is addressed in The Paper’s hit piece on so-called “QAnon” conspiracy theorists. Instead, they find one person–one person in the entire article who is quoted (should we assumed correctly?)–to call the ad “violent.”

It wouldn’t be problematic to say you disagree with the Right’s opposition to shared bathrooms and gender reassignments surgery. People have differing opinions. In a civil society, one would think that differences could be understood and discussed, if not “celebrated.” The problem is that the Left chooses to lie, not only about what’s actually happening, but what the Right says is happening.

If misrepresentation and lies are your only weapon in this war on children, you’re going to lose, even behind anonymously-penned articles.

Full text of the ad, “War On Children”:

There is a war on children in America. A war on biology. A war on innocence. Schools are forcing elementary school children to share bathrooms and locker rooms with the opposite sex. They are encouraging students to question whether they are really boys or girls, all while hiding it from parents. So-called health organizations are promoting experimental, dangerous, and irreversible drugs and surgeries for minors. Puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones–drugs never approved for this use–leaving young children sterile, infertile, and sexually undeveloped for life. They remove healthy breasts, wombs, and genitals, all in the name of radical gender ideology. Millions of common sense Americans know this is wrong. They know it is dangerous. They know it is crazy. Stop the woke war on our children. Stop the far left assault on our youth. Stop the madness. Stop the insanity.

  1. Had no idea I was becoming a Q-Anon, whatever that might be. I’m already an evil MAGA believer, a racist, homophobe and xenophobe all because I prefer a bit less from government in my life. I was formally a Tea Party person before that was declared evil and demonized away.
